Machine won't home

Postby Keith Neal » Wed, Jun 24 2009, 6:22AM

This morning when I started our thermwood I went to home it out and the emergency stop kicked in with the following error message:gantry skewing exceeds it's limit bring up servo box for skew update.
the servo screen
GAIN FFWD FOLLOWING ERROR GANTRY SKEWING CMARK
axis1 .45 10 -0.000 -0.000 0.000
axis2 .45 10 0.000 0.000 0.000
axis3 .36 10 -0.000 -0.000 0.000
(sorry I'm not as good as making computer tables as kitchen tables..)

I ran a test piece of 12x12 and it was 8" from 0 on axis 1.axis2 & axis 3 are fine. The machine was working beautiful last night...help!

I have had this from time to time. Not often but it happens.

It has always corrected itself just by re-homeing. Sometimes I might have to home twice in a row but it has always cleared up.

I hope it does for you as well.

Hello Keith,
If you have tried homing the machine again with the same result, one of the axis 1 belts may have jumped a tooth. You can give us a call here in the service department and we can walk you through a solution to this problem. 1-800-221-3865 Thanks

Went through the hullabaloo as if the x axis belt had jumped a tooth...made some phone calls...never thought to check if proximity sensor was working, it wasn't in fact it was broken at the tip.A few hours of messing around for a simple fix if only I had thought...
