G41 and G00

Post by David Hall »

When there's a cutter radius compensation in effect, my rapid traverse commands are performed at feed speeds. Am I stuck with inserting G40 before the G00 and then another G41 before the G01 or is there a setting I'm missing?

Thanks for your help.

Regards,
Dave

Hi Dave,

How is your CNC code being processed? There shouldn't be any G00 commands posted when there is a G41 or G42 active. Cutter compensation should be turned on just before plunging to cut depth and then shut off (G40) as soon as the cutter retracts from cutting. If cutter comp. is on during index moves between nested parts, the program will be off dimensionally. I hope this information has been helpful. Feel free to contact me with any questions.
