Ideal computer system configuration for eCabinet Systems

Post by Will Eick »

This may be a questions for the folks at Thermwood.

I am shopping for a new computer for use with my eCabinet Systems. I want to get one that really performs and handles eCabs optimally. If possible I would like it to be a laptop, because I do design work both at my shop office and at home, and carry my laptop back and forth. Plus, I have found it to be a really good sales tool to take my laptop to meet with client prospects, and show them both the design drawings and the finished project photographs from prior projects.

So what is the ideal computer configuration for eCabinet Systems?

What is the minimum computer configuration that still gives \"good performance?\"

Has anyone found a laptop that has enough CPU and graphics horsepower that can cope well with eCabs?

Our trainers and support personnel are migrating over to the Dell M90 Mobile Workstation with either the Quadro FX 3500M or Quadro FX 2500M graphics processors. All have been equipped with the Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 or T7600 processor.

HP has a model (the HP Compaq nw9440 Mobile Workstation) with the Quadro FX 1500M graphics processor.

Alienware used to have Quadro FX graphics processors in its mobile workstations, but seemed to have discontinued that.
