I sort of use a server to run eCabinets. I am using Windows Server 2003 on my workstation (I do web development, cabinetry is a secondary line of business) and, for the most part, everything works just fine.
I have run into a few issues though and wouldn't recommend it for the faint of heart. I couldn't print the jobs or sheets views of a nest diagram until I set the compatibility mode on eCabinets.exe to Windows XP. I have also run into a few strange events that I chalked up to either W2K3 or my error.
As for using the server to do what it was designed to do, I don't think eCabinets plays in that sandbox yet.
