Search index is still rebuilding. Results will be fewer than would otherwise be expected.

Hi Dean,

Can you make it where when we add a url link to a post that it will open in a new window or tab instead of the default window which takes us off the forum?
I think that is the way it worked before.

I started to say "it does Kerry...that is a browser setting" but I tried a link before replying and, sure enough, it reuses the open window.

I think Dean should be in here on Saturday to fix things like this. HEY!!! I was going to add a joker smilie to this line but I don't see any smilies on this page????

Dan,
The Edit button isn't available on this thread either.

Dean probably disallow edits and smilies since this is an "announcements" forum.

Either that or he just forgot to enable them??? I just finished 2-1/2 days of hard labor setting this version of phpBB up on my server. After much head-banging, I finally got it working. Dean can attest to the problems I ran into and the lack of answers for them. I finally got help from one of the phpBB development team and he connected to my test server to debug it. After about 4 hours of debugging he finally found the (very simple) problem.

Hopefully Dean didn't have the same kind of installation experience I did. I do know that he has been testing various release candidate versions fof phpBB for a while now so he was probably well past the issues I had.

I am now browsing through the forum, after 5 days of no electricity. Huge ice storm, as I am certain many of you have read or heard about.

KERRY: It sounds to me like you are using IE7. If this is the case, you can right-click on the URL, and you will then be able to select an option to Open in New Browser, or Open in New Tab.

I'm a little late to this party.
Nice changes. Much more pleasant to the eye, but seems to run much slower on my PC.
I also notice that my old postings have now squeezed my avatar from oval to round. We'll see how this posting displays.

That is because the new version of phpBB has a default avatar maximum size of 90x90. I'm sure the conversion process probably makes larger avatars fit into 90x90.

You might try resizing yours so that it is 90 wide and xx high while maintaining the aspect ratio.

The "Announcements" forum is in lock-down mode intentionally. No smilies, no edits. In fact, I initially had replies disabled, but thought some of you would like to weigh in.

Hyperlinks don't open new windows as designed in this new version of the software; the developers probably have a reason for this. Newer browsers allow a 'right-click' to open in a new tab or new window.

Avatars are handled the same, the conversion set default avatar parameters and I've not tweaked any.

Speed improvements was a big focus of the developers for this version. To improve performance, static content of dynamic pages is cached into memory.

So you know, the "quote" function isn't working properly as seen above.

That's strange I have a feeling someone has responded but I don't see a response ??? lol

Wow what an interesting feature...I like the idea of friends, like a buddy list for quick access.
