Re: mac computer
No, it is a Windows-only application. On Mac OS X, you must purchase Windows XP w/Service Pack 2 with either a virtualization program like VM Ware or Parallels or use Boot Camp. Virtualization gives a significant performance hit (I have eCabs running in VMWare on an iMac w/VMWare myself) over use with Boot Camp.

Re: mac asking for help
Dean,
Would you be willing to write out what I need to do to put ecabs on my imac?
Like step one, step2, 3 ect. what version of vmware I need, I have parallels desktop 3.0 for mac.
I have eCabinet Systems V5 I got of uguys in 11/13/2006,
I formatted my old dell. I'm not running it on that computer its to slow and old. I have to clean it out every year and reinstall xp to keep it in a half way shape for windows apps. that don't require much ram. I love the software, wanting to do some projects in the near future, so putting ecabs on my new mac would be GREAT.
I will understand if you don't want help, it's our call, because like the book vista for dumbbies I'm a mac dumbbie.

Re: mac computer
I have eCabinet running on a MacBook Pro (2.33 ghz) using Boot Camp, which gives me a PC platform with Windows XP. You will want a two buttom mouse. I have no problem running it.

Re: mac computer
Would it be better to run through Paralles or VMware?
I checked out vmwares site
Got on the fourm
sure alot of people having trouble with running windows software in vmware
I know the software is used to set up windows XP (in my case) on my mac but I'm wanting to keep it clean of microsoft
OS
Might go to some kind of 3cad package
I will be losing a great software I know
Will still have ecab on old computer

Re: mac computer
I can't help you out with that question, I've never worked with either one. In a perfect world everything would be mac! Since it's not, I have worked around my problem with Boot Camp and XP. I have had no problem at all with XP and Boot Camp running eCabinet.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Re: mac computer
Yeah, I just find it amusing that to get good software for a Mac (eCabinets), you have to run Windows on it...
I'm just saying these things to yank the MacNut-in-Chief's chain (Dean).

I will ignore Dan's leash tugging for the time being....

To answer the OP, the best way to run eCabinets on a Mac is to have:
- 1. Late-model iMac, MacBook Pro, or Mac Pro with Intel processor. This means no MacBooks, Mac Minis, MacBook Airs, or any PowerPC-based Macs will work.
2. OS X Leopard (10.5.2). Leopard is required for Boot Camp, which is included free of charge with Leopard.
3. Windows XP FULL INSTALL with Service Pack 2 (This means no upgrade edition or anything less than Service Pack 2.) Windows XP is starting to get scarce now that Vista has been shipping and the retail cut-off date for XP is June 30th, 2008.
4. Two-button USB mouse
