Partitions as intermediate gables

Post by David Kopriva »

Hi All
I am trying to use the insert parition as an intemediate gable. I deleted the deck but this does not allow me to bring the partition to the floor for a counter support. How do I accomplish this? Any takers? :?:

A partition must have a deck and top to connect to so, when you remove the deck, the partition is removed also.

You can add a display panel of the appripriate size to achieve the same result without the need for having a deck for it to connect to. Of course this method will allow only butt joinery unless you manually create dadoes/tenons in the Part Editor.

Another thing you can do is create a very thin (.001) material and make the deck from that material. Then you can connect the partition and use whatever joinery you wish.

Thanks Dan
I tried this and it works. Then I removed the deck and guess what, the partitions remained in the cabinet. I suspect it will load in the cut list as well.

To use a partition as a gable,
1. Remove the deck
2. Next determine the toe kick construction.
a. Method 1
1. Set the toe kick height and inset to 0
2. Install the partition. The partition will go to the floor.
b. Method 2
1. Set the height and inset of the toe kick to the desired height and inset.
2. Install the partition with a negative bottom inset that matches the toe kick height.
The partition (gable) will extend by the negative value towards the floor.
3. Install shelves to replicate the deck.
