Custom Flooring

Post by JohnLashuay »

Is it possible to create a new texture that could be used to in flooring and wall images?

The reason I am asking is, I am designing a garage where the customer would like a checkered floor. (White & Black) I have gone through and made a floor manually, as an object, but it is quite time-consuming.

Any ideas??

John,

You can add any image to the system and apply it to the floor or wall. If you go to Custom Layout "Render View" area, right click and choose: Texture Options> Wall/Floor> Change Texture. This will allow you to manually tile an image and apply it (even one you add). You can add images at any time by going to the Images dialog (which can be accessed from the Change Texture dialog via the Image button) and then select the Add Image button. To apply an image to the floor or wall, have the Change Texture dialog active and then hold the Ctrl key down and click on the floor to apply the texture. Hope this helps.

Scott,

It is possible to add two existing solid colors to make up a checkered look?

John,

You can make the image have 4 tiles that make up the pattern and then it will tile nicely. I attached a jpg of a black/white pattern. I saved this jpg at a size of 24" X 24". Just tile it manually until it looks the way you need it.

Thanks Scott,

How did you make that jpg? Were you able to use ecabinets? I would like to be able to change the colors based upon different customer requests.

Thanks again,
John

John,

I simply used std Windows Paint. You can load this jpg in paint and change the tiles colors by using the fill command and resave it.
