Darren,

Everything is done in eCabinets.
I use different textures for different parts of the cabinets for contrast and I can also assign different shine values to different textures which helps.
You must assign a shine value to every texture (don't use too much shine, keep it real looking)
Lighting placement and level is very important to the look. Use as few lights as you can to create the shadows you want. Keep the levels low to create a more natural look. Set up the lighting in your eCabinets drawing just the way a photographer would to shoot the real kitchen.
If your render is to dark but you like the look, use the Image Control Gamma correction to enhance it a bit.

Below is a shot from an old job that I added some things and re-did the lighting to enter in the LightWorks Image Competition last month. They weren't impressed.

Gary,

I won't start that kitchen until mid September. when I do it is just me with a little help from me to build and install. It takes me around six weeks to do a job like this. This job is to be finished on site by the general contractor.

Rick,

That job was done several years ago. It didn't have the coffered ceiling, I just added that for the Light Works Competition. ( This is the last coffered ceiling I did and it was also quite a few years back )
I used that job for the competition because I designed it right after eCabinets added the Presentation View and I had spent quite a bit of time working on it. I don't go into that much detail anymore.

Great work Kerry. You always amaze and go the extra mile. I really like the open doors showing the lazy susans, spice racks and roll out shelves.

Kerry,
How did you construct the ceiling in eCab? Do you make a large panel the size of the room and place it on top of the room?
Thanks,
