does it make a big differance ?
Hi all, I have a question about the recomended system for ecabs. I have been using a budget system, e-machines duo core 2.66 ,500 or so front side buzz, 2 gigs ram, nvidia geo force 7900 256 megs, the ram and processer speeds are sub par compared to the new stuff. during the first few months the system seemed to run good for ecabs, but as I became a more exsperienced user it became obvious that my system was quite underpowered. So for any of you that have made the jump to the recomended system, or similar: I'm a self taught computer user looking at $1500 to $1800 for an upgrade, and I really want to know, does it make a big difference???
thanks for any imput

Yes it makes a huge difference. I went with a refurbished dell to stay within budget and have been happy with it. If you want to see them it is called the delloutletcenter

Re: does it make a big differance ?
The biggest difference is in the video card. Consider a quadro fx 1700 (512 meg) upgrade for your current system if your graphics slot is PCI express. From CompUSA its around $430. Thats about half of the fx 3500 which is Thermwoods's pick. If your motherboard doesn't support at least PCI express, then its days are numbered.
After video, ram makes a difference but you already have 2 gig so should be OK
Processor speed or dual core probably not that much of a big deal.

That's a great system. The 8400 cpu is fantastic and the nvidia card is superb especially if you can spring for a second monitor. May I ask what your paying for this setup?

Glenn, 2,145.00 includes tax. I looked allot at the dell and HP and if you add a little extra ram your right up there with these guys. I think the mother board is a step up w/ vision. I'm local in atlanta so there is no shippingGlenn Warner wrote:That's a great system. The 8400 cpu is fantastic and the nvidia card is superb especially if you can spring for a second monitor.
