Re: Pocket Gate
Great design Gary, I really like that. The openings are a bit too big to keep my Pomeranians out of the dining room though.
Like I said when you posted the eCabinets rendering of it, that would also be a great method of keeping small children out of dangerous areas of the house. If you built one for that purpose I would think that you would have to get safety specs from (???) and make sure the customer signed a waiver of liability.

Re: Pocket Gate
Thanks Dan,
I would think the baluster spacing would be the same as the railing for steps 4" or less for the space between the balusters.

Re: Pocket Gate
Agreed, but I was thinking of potential liability if someone's child was able to get past the gate and was injured. After all, McDonald's lost millions of dollars because their coffee was hot and some idiot spilled it on their lap???Gary Puckett wrote:...I would think the baluster spacing would be the same as the railing for steps 4" or less for the space between the balusters...

Re: Pocket Gate
Rick,
Yes there is a Accuride full extension slide on the bottom of each gate. That part of the design needs some work, it works just fine and would work better if the balusters were not solid iron. The gates are pretty heavy each gate is 21" long.

Re: Pocket Gate
Dan,
I guess you could come up with some kind of locking device.

Re: Pocket Gate
Would it be possible to put a small, hidden caster in the bottom of the ends? What I'm thinking of is more like a small rubber roller about 2 or 3 inches wide and 1/2 inch diameter, not a wheel.Gary Puckett wrote:Rick,

Re: Pocket Gate
Dan ,
How would you get it to retract when you close the gate?

Re: Pocket Gate
It wouldn't retract, just have it barely proud of the bottom. I'm thinking only on the ends that show when closed, not inside. That would provide support for the weight when opening or closing the gates.
