any option of selecting multiple cutters for pocket
we have a problem here in selecting the tool for pocket operation in control nesting settings as we have a slot operation to be performed by a 3mm cutter and we choose that 3mm tool and it takes the same cutter for rest of dados aswell which is the problem i want that cutter to be used for only for that slot and a bigger cutter for performing dados and other pockets but if i choose abigger cutter here the 3mm slot is not being done is there any other solution for this situation pls advice

Control Nesting will only use the pocket tool in the settings area to perform pocket cuts. How are you creating your files? Control Nesting treats dados differently than pockets. If you are using dxf files, the dado should be on a dado layer and not on a pocket layer. If you are using Ecabinets, dadoes are a different operation from pockets unless you create your own dado in the part editor, then it is treated as a pocket. Do you have any sample files you can post so we can see what you are using?

thanksfor the advice daniel we have overome the problem, the issue was on the 3mm slot as we created it on dado setting we faced the problem but now we used the cut pocket using recetangle option in ecabinets with this it works fine

Hello Mohan,
If a given tool is exceeding it's cut length by plunging to deep on the initial pass, you can alter the MAX PENETRATION value for that tool. To set the max cut depth for that tool, look into the TOOLING option within Control Nesting and you will find the MAX PENETRATION value with each Tool Operation which can be set. This will cause control nesting to take more than 1 depth cut if the final cut depth is more than the MAX PEN. set.

yes we can atleast change the setting of max penetration, but here my tool is a single fluted stepped cutter 6.35mm shank and 4mm (ced)and (cel)is only12mm max where as it cant go any further and want to check like how come control nesting picks the same bit(4mm) whch is used for 5mm wide slot of 7mm deep when doing the 15mm wide slot of through cut inspite of havng 6mm,8mm,12mm bits inthe setup,is there any other way we can tell the mchine to use the 8mm or 12mm bit
pls advice us

If the design being cut is a pocket type geom., as Daniel had explained the difference of Pocket vs. Dado, then the tool that is in the SETTINGS for Pocket Tool Setup will be used regardless of pocket size. If the design is a Dado, you can setup your TOOLING operations in an order so that the tools are listed from Largest to Smallest, and control nesting will choose the first tool it comes upon in the Operations list, given that dado can be cut with tool making one pass around inner perimeter of dado and the tool can shift for compensation purposes.
