Microsoft is throwing a big upgrade pre-sale at about 50% off which is significant. Since I keep all my software up-to-date, I have taken immediate advantage of this sale and ordered the Windows 7 Professional upgrade. I notice that the Professional version of Windows 7 allows programs to run in XP mode. Does this neatly sidestep any problems that eCabinet has with the Vista genre software? The Windows 7 Professional upgrade will sell for $199.00 retail when released in October. The pre-sale offers it now with $100 off at $99.00.

Re: Windows 7 Ques. & Notice
Peter, I've been running Windows 7 RC for a few weeks now on one of my rigs. I haven't installed E-cabs on it yet, but I am running Autocad 2006 in XP mode and it works fine.

Re: Windows 7 Ques. & Notice
I normally like to keep up with the latest software, but I have gotten badly burned a few times with the Windows "upgrades". Maybe this one is different, but for past upgrades I lost access to both hardware (like printers and scanners) and software. This was costly for me since I needed to buy replacements for these. I would be very concerned about compatibility issues.

Joe,
It's important to run Micrsoft's compatibility software program to flag hardware items that are not compatible or need new drivers. You can download this free program from Microsoft's site. I ran this, and I am good to go.
