Pain in the neck!!!
Some of you may have noticed that I haven't been very active in the forums lately. The attached image might give you some indication why.
Many of you know that I missed most of last year due to herniated discs in the lumbar region of my spine, eventually having surgery last November.
I have been having increasing pain in my neck for several months now and had an MRI a couple of weeks ago. Yesterday I went to the doctor and his prognosis was pretty grim--first option is surgery, second option is to do nothing and risk permanent spinal cord injury.
In the image below, the red arrows point to areas where my spinal cord is being compressed by discs (on the left) and bone spurs (on the right side of the immage). The doc says I am one fall, car accident, etc, away from possibly becoming a quadraplegic! With that in mind, he has removed me from limited duty to no duty--so I am stuck with doing absolutely nothing until I have surgery and finish recovery afterwards.
I don't have a date for surgery yet but recovery will likely be about six months. During that time I will be in traction to give the bone time to fuse and prevent further injury.
I will try to stop in and say hello but I can't sit at the computer much because of the strain it puts on my neck.
I guess I'll see you folks when I can...until then, keep making sawdust!

Re: Pain in the neck!!!
Dan,
Please let me know if I can build you something that would help you be able to use your computer while in a bed, recliner, wherever your going to need to position yourself to be comfortable and heal. I am thinking something on wheels that would hold a articulating arm to hold a laptop, or something to hold a monitor and maybe a cordless keyboard.
Seriously, tell me what you need and I will get it to you.I bet I could drum up some help with it if needed!
Maybe something as simple as a tray that straddles your legs while your laying down in bed with a angled top to tilt your laptop at a angle so you don't have to hold your head up? Sketch up something with some diminsions!!

Re: Pain in the neck!!!
Thanks for all the kind words from everyone. My PCP doc cleared me for surgery today so I'm just waiting on the surgeon to schedule it.
You've seen the IHOP commercial...maid-French maid, toast-French toast, etc...how about the French maid??? Nah, my wife would kill BOTH of us!!!Michael S Murray wrote:...Seriously,tell me what you need and I will get it to you.I bet I could drum up some help with it if needed...
