I agree Gary, that "Announcements" thread up there is looking very lonely. I think Thermwood is aiming for Microsoft vapourware status, means they have really arrived :)

Hi Guys,

We are still working on the beta and have came upon a few big problems that are being resolved. Hopefully the release will be out in the near future but again, anything can happen.

Hey Nick, maybe there needs to be a little testing with Windows 7 and eCabs V6 before V6 is released. I am planning to update my system to Windows 7 shortly.

HAve preordered Win 7 for 3 pc's. I hope there is no conflict between it and ECabinets.

Here’s the scoop. First, it’s taken awhile to debug V6 as many of our beta testers are slow and are not using the software as much as in the past. We were ready to release but decided to wait until a new major release of one of the key licensed software packages to make sure we were using the latest/greatest. Well, the new release was a bust. Lots of things that worked for years “got broke”. It took them a couple of weeks to get a “hot release” to address the problems which affected many other companies besides us. With the “hot” release we are trying to get through the final stages of testing which we hope won’t get broken again when the “official” release happens. They won’t tell us when that will be. Like many of us, these folks are short handed and their normal professional and reliable execution didn’t happen this time. Please be patient, we are doing the best we can. In future releases we hope to offer smaller more incremental changes than the huge effort that is Version 6 but we have to get this out first.

Just to let everyone know, Windows 7 has been a part of the testing of Version 6. Since v6 is still in Beta, odds are very good that any discrepancies that should be found between it and Windows 7 would be resolved. I doubt there will ever be an "official" blessing of Windows 7 for eCabinets 5 because Windows Vista never received one even though users are working with v5 and Vista every day.

Ok, so it's going to be a while for V6, can't you at least tell us what V6 is going to offer?

What has been improved on , and what are the new features.

What's forthcoming for V6 has already been discussed here on this forum by both the CEO and the Vice President of the division. As with any software in development, more can be added from a desired "wish list" but features can also be removed from the "wish list" before release. To discuss in detail a product that's still in development would be difficult at best. Version 6 is currently in beta testing, which has also already been stated here before.

All that being said, Version 5 is still a good product.

Gary, I think you're missing the point. Any list posted previously has likely changed. Any list posted today will likely change. Nailing down features for a software product still in development is like trying to gather piglets on the loose.

I was under the impression that V6 was devolped, and that development was being tested.
