Version 6 Images

Post by Glenn Warner »

Just installed v6. Are the standard image files different? The Brewster set looks quite reduced; only two directories with one texture each.

I still have what appears to be the complete set.

If you installed a fresh copy of V6 or said No to the V5.2 Data copy, then you will have a reduced set of material images.

Hey Rick,

It would also be nice if folks could still download the expanded Materials database.

Thanks,

Glenn,

Assuming you did a backup once in a while you should still have a copy of the "Materials" directory in your backup. You can probably just copy that data to your new Materials directory.

The install does not delete any material data. You still have the images in your 5.2 installation directory.

The old images are nowhere to be found on my updated system. However I still have v5 installed on my laptop. Can I just copy them into v6, to my user data? Or should they go in the applications data folder?

They belong in the application data folder under Thermwood\eCabinetSystems\Materials

I seem to have the same problem. When I installed V6 I told it to copy all V5 data files. When I look in the Thermwood\eCabinets Systems\Materials folder, it has all the subfolders but they are all empty. Where did the files go?

As I now look through all my other folders under \eCabinet Systemsall it appears that the subfolders are all intact but all the files are now gone, except the ones I've created since I started using eCabinets. I'm not sure the copy from V5 to V6 worked correctly.

I think I will do what someone else suggested and pull the files off another computer and put them back on my main computer.

Do to the fact that Vista and Windows 7 don’t like programs to write to the program files directory without admin rights, the file locations for V6 have changed. Program Files that do not change (mainly exe's and dlls) are still kept in the Program Files directory. If you do a copy when you install, you will also see your old files from the copy that you created here as well. It's kind of like a build in backup. These files now have also been copied to the UserData Directory by the install. The UserData Directory contains all your user created files. ex Cabinets, Assemblies, Hole Patterns, DXFs, Jobs, Tools, etc. Other files like ini and mdb files are now kept in the AppData Directory. The Materials directory is also in this directory.

Old Default File Location for V5:
XP/Vista/Windows7
c:\program files\thermwood\eCabinet Systems
64bit
c:\program files (x86)\thermwood\eCabinet Systems

New Default File Locations for V6:

Program Files XP/Vista/Windows7 (exe and dlls):
c:\program files\thermwood\eCabinet Systems
64bit
c:\program files (x86)\thermwood\eCabinet Systems

UserData Files (files created by user ex: cabinets, assemblies, patterns, etc)
XP:
c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Thermwood\eCabinet Systems
Vista/Windows7
c:\users\Public\Documents\Thermwood\eCabinet Systems

AppData Files (files used by ecabinets in the background, also contains Materials folder):
XP:
c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Thermwood\eCabinet Systems
Vista/Windows7:
c:\ProgramData\Thermwood\eCabinet Systems

It doesn't seem to be picking up some of the files. I'm using XP Pro.

In the Item window
When I go to hardware\Amerock no images are displayed in V6 but in File Manager there are 888 files listed
When I go to hardware\Knape Vogt no images are displayed in V6 but in File Manager there are 2 files listed

Not sure why it isn't picking up these folders when it is picking up Classic Brass, Hafele and Wood Technology without any problems.
Sincerely,

It shows all folders, but only shows object files (*.stl, *.hsf). The directories with only jpgs were copied over so that you could use them in your Hardware database. If you add hardware to the Hardware database, you can associate a jpg and hsf file to that hardware. The jpg shows up in the Item Window Tabs when selected as default hardware or added in the new buy list. When you set a hsf file, that file is copied to the hardware directory under the and can be used as display object.
