Cabinet with PE part resizing problem

The attached cabinet file seems to be having problems resizing. I get the error dialog pictured here when I try to change the width. I created a top rail 6" wide and then took it to PE to create the arched cutout. I want to make a cabinet from this seed that is 48" wide and I get the error dialog. I didn't think I had to do any CM work to change the size of a cabinet with a faceframe even if I took one of the parts into PE. Is there something I must do to the PE arched top rail before I can make the cabinet wider?

I can't load your cabinet. There is a hardware item (hafele HF-28211707) that doesn't show a hardware type so it won't let me remove the hardware or add the hardware to open the cabinet.

You're right Kerry. Somehow 8 shelf pins got put into this cabinet and there are no shelves in it. When I try to delete the pins in the cabinet buy list it won't let me delete them. This is a problem I've had before with deleting hardware from a cabinet. It seems that once it's in the cabinet buy list you can't get rid of it.

I do not have trouble deleting the shelf pins. The way I did it was to double click the cabinet first, then open the cabinet buy list, at this point, set your qty to 0, and it is gone.

As for your resize issue, what is happening is that in order to keep the left and right sides a 6", the center arch of the circle is cutting the part in two. You can see this happening if you resize to say 35". 36+" wide will result in the error.

To resolve this, I think you are going to have to find a way to make the arc in multiple segments, and then constrain the center to by some point. Currently, eCabinets does not support splines which is really what is necessary for this to work the way you are asking it to.

With luck, maybe someone else has gotten this to work and can show us all how to make it happen.

What I'll do with the cabinet resize problem is to make a new cabinet the width I need with a straight top rail then take the top rail to the PE and arch it. This way I can get around the cabinet resizing issue.

As far as deleting the shelf pins from the cabinet - I didn't even consider having to double click on the cabinet first to delete a piece of hardware. I would have thought that since I had the cabinet in the cabinet editor and that is the only thing I was working on, the cabinet buy list would pertain to that cabinet. Wrong assumption I guess..... I used your method and was able to delete the shelf pins.

However the KD/RTA fittings are still in the KD/RTA list and there is no option to get rid of them. The little down arrow only allows me to Edit or Selected to selected parts. Is this going to be a problem?

Don,

The KD's set in the KD/RTA tab of the item window are for changing the KD's that are/will be in use for the cabinet. Until you actually set the Construction Method on the cabinet or part to use KD's, these KD's are not applied or added to the Cabinet Buy List or CNC output.

So long story short, if you are not using KD's, then the settings in the tab make no difference to your cabinet or assembly.

So I guess you were able to open Don's cabinet. When I try to open it in build 3 I get this screen

And when I choose to Add All Hardware nothing happens

I can remove the Hinge from the cabinet but I cannot remove or add the Hafele parts. I have to click cancel to continue and of course the cabinet does not open.

I can open this cabinet in Build 2 where I get this screen (notice that the hardware type shows up here.)

If you will constrain your arch from the top of the part and the node in the center of your arch it should behave like you want.
Try re sizing the cabinet I have attached and see if it behaves like you want.

I thought that I tried that first, but I guess not. The Constraint Manager can be a very powerful tool for setting up Seed Cabinets. I am pretty sure this is exactly what Don is trying to do.
