Re: Help with Graphics Card
Gentlemens - esp. Kerry - was there a satisfactory resolution to this problem? I've been having difficulty for a while with rotation in custom layout. When I first start the software it will be fine, then progressively slow down and get jerky until I can no longer rotate in custom layout (using the mouse - turns out the rotate buttons does work fine). I CAN rotate with the mouse in presentation view.
Kerry, did you upgrade your system or graphics card?
I have a Dell Dimension 9100
Pentium D 3.00 Ghz
3.0 GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce 6800
Thanks much - Jason

Re: Help with Graphics Card
Jason,
No I am still having difficulty with this. small jobs and single cabinets are OK but a detailed job I cannot rotate in custom layout and have to use the sliders if the job is rendered.
I have had numerous driver updates including one as recent as August 8. They seem to help a little but it is still aggravating.

Re: Help with Graphics Card
What!?!? No, you're supposed to give me the quick easy solution!
Sorry to hear you're still fighting it - it's definitely frustrating. I suppose it's most likely a user issue thing, not a Thermwood-please-fix-this thing...? I'm debating the new computer/new graphic card idea, it sure would be great if there was a free solution!
Thanks Kerry - Jason

Re: Help with Graphics Card
Jason,
Some things that seem to help
In eCabinets Preferences set the Level of Detail Settings for Custom Layout and the Cabinet Editor to Minimum
Go to your nVidia Control Panel and set the Open Gl Settings to Performance instead of Quality
Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date.
If you are using a smart mouse make sure its drivers are up to date.

Re: Help with Graphics Card
Hi Kerry tried to open the job but land up on a web page that says "Page not found". Any other way to get the job in question? I mailed you but you did not reply

Re: Help with Graphics Card
Nick,
I have fixed the job link if you want to try it again.
There has been quite a bit of improvement since I originally posted the job in May. When I first posted I was unable to rotate the view at all. After several driver updates and some adjustments to card settings I can now rotate the job but it is still very slow and jerky as is any detailed job that I try to view.
Send me another email. My spam filter was blocking South Africa.

Nick,
I guess I don't like anyone. I was blocking every country but the US, Canada and Australia.

Re: Help with Graphics Card
Geez its good to know we arn't being singled out Kerry!!
I ran you job on both my desktop which has an Nvidia GeForce GTX260 graphics card and a Core 2 duo CPU at 3.0 Ghz and on my Dell M90 notebook with a Quadro FX3500. The file is big and you have a lot of detail with all those panels, so some slowdown is to be expected, nevertheless my desktop handled the job better with less jerkiness on pan, zoom and rotate. Both machines work better with the job in render mode and using the sliders provides a smooth action. Putting the job into presentation takes a little over a minute on both machines.
