The Price got me thinking

Post by Bryan J Tanner »

If you go to this website you'll see an auction for a Thermwood C70 machine, not in the greatest of condition.

I'm just wanting some feed back on this machine. We are but a small shop and the price got me to thinking. I know it would cost a bit to get it up and running, but would it be worth it??

Just an addition to this one.

The Serial Number of this machine is C70014042888SD

It has had a RouterPak-4, part installed from the guys below.

Any thoughts as to if this would be a good purchase??

Hey Thom

I'm wondering if with that routerpak-4 thing it has installed, which seems to be a complete controller and servo motors, it is still compatible with eCabinets.

It would appear to be at Award Plastics down there. We can't get down to see it, but if you would like to go see it and give us your opinion I would be very grateful.

I will be down there in November and would love to come and see your operation then if we can organise that.

eCabinets will not run on that without a modern Thermwood SuperControl. That machine originally shipped with a 16-bit 4-Series control, so even if it had the original control in it, it wouldn't run with eCabinets. A control upgrade could be cost-prohibitive. Call +1 812 937 4476 and ask for the retrofits group to get a ballpark price on a control upgrade.

The Model 70 machines are very good for plastic trimming, aerospace, and military applications, but not really well-suited for 3-axis woodworking.
