Quantities in CN Changing to 1
Can someone take a look at this and let me know if it happens to you?
1. Load twd (notice that all the quantities on the second line have been changed to 1)
Does anyone have any idea?

Re: Quantities in CN Changing to 1
This is by design to clarify quantities. It was mentioned in the items for this release.
Cabinet quantity acts as parent over part quantity in Load screen. (ALTERED)
The cabinet quantity takes precedence over part quantity. For example, referring to the image you posted, if you change the Deck part quantity to 3 for the cabinet SA_12.36-MOD4 you would end up with 9 Decks in the nest.
Have you checked the results after nesting? Are you getting the correct quantities in the nest?

Re: Quantities in CN Changing to 1
Did someone request this change? This is extremely confusing to me, however if it has some benefit that I haven't thought of yet, I would welcome it with open arms!

Thanks Larry for the clarification. It looked odd to me, but now it makes sense.
I have checked the quantities on cut jobs and it does come out right.

Re: Quantities in CN Changing to 1
Me and my big mouth. I just installed it and checked if the quantity issue has been fixed. At first it seemed no but then I read this one and I found that everything was correct.
I do find it confusing that the part quantity is set to one although you are cutting 4 cabinets (for example). When I posted my original finding I was confused that you can get negative value for a part quantity. So that's why I suggested that the cabinet quantity should always overwrite part quantity. In CN 5.58 it seemed that cabinet quantity was subtracting from part quantity to get the right amount and that's why you could get negative value.
CN 5.59 seems to be working right though. So I will shut up and you guys decide what is confusing and what not.
Cheers

I didn't mean to offend anyone Georgi, I apologize - I just didn't realize the reason for the change. Perhaps this will prove to work out better though I do find it confusing at the start. But, not I know what to look out for so we'll see how things go!

Re: Quantities in CN Changing to 1
I understand how this helps with the twd files, they are cabinet based. It also happens when loading an xls cut lists which does not have parts in cabinet groups. I had to downgrade back to 5.58 until the issue is resolved with xls.

Ryan,
Are you referring to a DXF part list loaded into CN? Can you tell me exactly what happens when you load it?

Re: Quantities in CN Changing to 1
After lengthy discussions weighing the pros and cons we believe we have a new solution to this issue. Since the parent/child technique is too confusing and the filter quantities from eCabinets are not being passed correctly we will go back to the old way of displaying the true part quantities in the Load screen and remove the parent/child relationship. Here is the new aspect. Now a change to cabinet quantity will alter the part quantity accordingly and maintain any difference that may exist due to the part quantity being a different value than the cabinet quantity. This means that if you increment OR decrement cabinet quantity the part quantity will maintain any difference between the part quantity and cabinet quantity. It will also avoid getting a negative value. If the difference amount results in the part quantity to go negative then Control Nesting will simply make the quantity zero.
An additional aspect to keep in mind with this strategy is the cabinet colors that are printed on the labels. Now if extra parts are needed, they will get the cabinet color for the the last cabinet in quantities that get assigned a color.

Hi Larry,
Thank you very much!!
That would be a welcome change for my operation. I know it's never going to get 100% satisfaction with so many members and users, but we would be very excited when that next update becomes available.
Many thanks,
jnr

Re: Quantities in CN Changing to 1
Thanks for 'reverting" back to quazi 5.58 style for quantities. We updated to 5.59 and my operator was confused by the parent quanties vs. part quantities so we just went back to 5.58. Now we can move forward to 5.61. Also, I like the new streamlined display. As they used to tell me in the Army- Keep it Simple Stupid! AKA the KISS principle.
Also want to say thanks for the "material" option. That one has been a really great addition for us because we often have 5x8 as well as 4x8 material around. This way the operator can pick what size material he is going to use instead of me having to go back in ecabs and change the material size and rewrite it.

Yes took the factory tour a couple years ago. It will blow your mind. They also have the High speed driving training course here that I'm going to do one day. Gotta sell a few more cabinets
