they do make smaller locking devices for the undermount slides for narrow drawers, for interior drawer width 3 3/4" - 4 3/4"

Takes some blocking but you can make one out of a bb slide, lay it on its side,works in a pinch...

I would only do that with a big slide like a Accuride 9301 - most of them are not rated for horizontal use. Good idea!
