shelve hole settings

Post by Will Williamson »

When adding multiple adjustable shelves, it appears that the shelve holes are over lapping. How could I have the software apply drill holes evenly along the entire length of the partition? The partition is 36 inches tall with 6 shelves

Add 1 center shelf and use 8 or (whatever you need) holes up and down. Then add the rest of your shelves with no holes.

You have to be care full because if you add more shelves and equalize you could still end up with extra holes

Ya, you have to center the first shelf with whatever holes you want, then turn the holes off, and then when you place add shelves, do not equalize the spaces or it will move the holes with the origonal holes. If you really need to show the proper shelf space you have to do a little math and adjust your number of holes below and above to get what your after.
I only do this on furniture or open wall shelving units for customers who cant visualize anything.

What I've found that works is to first add one shelf with shelf holes. For a 30" tall cabinet I will add 2 up and 8 down (1.5" spacing). Then I will click in the space under that shelf to add another shelf. For this second shelf I turn off shelf holes then add the shelf. I then Equalize the shelf spacing and the top shelf moves UP taking its holes with it and the bottom shelf, since it has no holes to move, just locates to its new place. Go back to CE and hide parts so you can see the shelf holes to make sure they are lined up the way you want them. You might have to go back and forth between the shelf editor and CE to get things aligned correctly.

This works reliably no matter how many shelves you add. Only add holes to the top shelf.
Sincerely,

Another method that may be a little closer to realizing the 32mm system is to install the shelf and move it to the bottom of the cabinet, as follows:

Change the number of holes for the shelf to be installed or that has been installed to zero down and specify the number of holes above.

Install the shelf.

The 32mm system bases the hole patterns position from the bottom of the cabinet, not the interior of the cabinet and in eCabinets we need to adjust for the material thickness. For example, if the required position for the holes is 49 mm from the bottom of the cabinet in a 32mm system and the thickness of the material is 3/4", then 49 mm - 19mm = 30mm. The opening height for the bottom opening needs to change to 30mm.

Click on the bottom opening. Enter a new height for the bottom opening based. The shelf will be adjusted and the starting holes will begin at the example 49mm.
