Edge Banding Stretchers
Hi all...I been working with our CNC machine and e-cabinets for almost a year. The one consistant problem I have is that I can not apply edge banding to stretchers. I do know of the trick of changing a left/ right stretcher into a shelf and then appling tape. However, when a stretcher is up/ down or a left/ right stretcher is behind a shelf or another left right stretcher then I can not apply tape. Just wondering if anyone out there has any tricks to get around this or am I just missing something? I understand for most shops it is simple as walking over and edging the part and continuing on. However, in our shop the bander is about 300' away from the installers and there is way too many "distractions" between their work area and the bander...if you know what I mean. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Re: Edge Banding Stretchers
You can change the user part name to reflect the edgebanding instructions, that way it comes out on the label...

Re: Edge Banding Stretchers
Yes, but it still gets missed. They get in the habit of seeing the label marked and dont bother reading it, myself included.
We just had to take a vanity apart and fix it for this very reason.
I am about to make a big sign to hang over bander about checking strechers for part name instructions for banding....
I would really like to see this changed sooner than later.
I am guessing it is a little tougher than we think or it would probably be done...

@ Josh...I was wondering how do you change individual part tags? I mean I know how to change overall cabinet tag names but not individual parts. Thanks for helping out :Josh Rayburn wrote:You can change the user part name to reflect the edgebanding instructions, that way it comes out on the label...

Re: Edge Banding Stretchers
HI Brenda,
I have been using it for 6 years or more, several millions in work, and I have only scratched the surface and will admit I discover things I dont know on a regular basis...
Throw in a router on top of that and it is never ending.......
