Model 45 Auto load unload

Post by Neville Bastian »

Hi Ryan,
The flyer for Las Vegas fair mentions the Model 45 Auto load and unload new option. Is there a autoload option with the MTR which I have? The unload would not be possible because of the tool rack. The autoload would be handy as we load from a sissor lift and the sheets I use are 3.6m by 1.8m so for one operator its a bit tricky.
I believe there is a live feed from the fair. Are you going to be there? If you are make sure you where a big name badge so we can see you.

The addition to the model 45 is the newest change. This type of system has been around for quite some time on the model 53 offered. I do not know engineering's plans as far as whether they will be implementing on the MTR machines, but would think it it could be done per customer order. For existing machines you can contact our retrofit dept. for more info. (retrofits@thermwood.com or service@thermwood.com).

Regarding the Vegas show, I will not be attending, they won't let me out of my cage here :)

Hi Ryan,
Tried looking on YouTube for a few videos on how this works on the Thermwood machines. Is there links to these video's?
Sorry you are going to miss the fair. The up side is you won't be temped with the poker tables.

Has any Videos been uploaded from the Vegas show. The time difference made it difficult to see the live feeds.

Hi Neville,

We are currently working on a new full length video of the load/unload process but below is a quick video before the machine left for the AWFS show.

Thanks Jason, Thats a good teaser until the main video is released. Does that mean you can only have the tool holders on the head which I think is 5? If you wanted more where would you put those? Has any time trials been done comparing a manual load and unload operation compared to the auto load and unload? would be interesting how many more sheets you could process in a shift?

Thanks for the reply.
Regards

What happens to the dust that failed to completely extract from through cuts when the machined sheet is pushed off the table? I also did not see a wasteboard on that particular machine - but couldn't see too well?

Josh,

I was at the AWFS show and saw the prototype in action...
  • As the parts are being pushed off and the new sheet of material is loaded, an concentrated stream of air (an "air-knife") is directed under the sheet from one side. There is a dust hood/catcher on the other side that captures the dust as it exits from under the sheet. Both the "air-knife" and the hood ride with the gantry.
  • The WASTEBOARD stays on the table. The parts are pushed off of it.

I like it!
Toolholders would be a concern for me too though, I always have more than just the five in my typewriter.
Thanks Brad

Hi Jason,
Are there any options for a moving table machine? More complicated I would guess.....
Thanks!

Sorry Jason this may be off subject but apart from the extra tools they carry has any development gone into a auto labeling machine. I think there are a few manufacturers offering this as a option. I have had a friend who has a CNC with autolabelling and autoload and unload and the labelling has been trouble free for the last 18 months. In fact it was one of the reasons for dismissing the Thermwood. I was told by your Australian rep that you did try it a few years back and it was troublesome? Maybe its worth a revisit?
Thanks for info Brad on the dust removal. Looking forward to seeing that on the video.
