converting DXF files

Postby tim lucas » Sat, Mar 10 2012, 9:35PM

I just downloaded "Rev A Shelf" DXF files and would like a better understanding of how to use them and convert them for use in ecabs.

I have a cad program "TurboCab" that will open the DXF file - How do I create a stl from it ?

Tim,

Some versions of TurboCad can export .stl
Open your rev-a shelf part in TurboCad then I would guess click on File then Export and choose .stl as the output. (I don't have TurboCad to check this)

If this doesn't work download Accutrans 3D from this link and you can convert your files with it.

Hello Kerry
I now have Accutrans 3D and am able to load the dxf file, but should i be saveing the stl in binary or ascii format? i think binary?

how can i select parts of the object to add color? when i click on the object the pointer goes to the center

sorry but when George Davidson has created a couple things for me, his stl files were parts of the object, and had to be loaded to assemble it so im a little lost

Thanks
Tim
