Is there an adjustment on the drive belts, Michael? The machine is just 3 years old, and certainly doesn't run full-time. Do they stretch and need re-tensioning?

I've had my machine 10 years this December and have yet to replace the drive belt on the Y axis. I have a moving table with direct drive so no belt there. The extra belt I have will probably be shot by the time it is needed. Forrest

Hi Jeremy.
Glad you solved the quality issue of the tenon cut.
I noticed you dropped your feed speed. We did go down that route a few years back but were getting low hrs on the router bits. When we checked with our supplier they said our feed speeds were too low and were actually causing excessive heat and low removal of waste stock. Yours may be right but if your long term records show your hrs have dropped this could be the reason.
Some companies are good at giving advice on the router bits but some just send you a catalogue of router bits more or less saying work it out yourself? Well that was a recent experence.
Regards

Neville

You are not wrong Neville. I've yet to come across a single router bit seller that can give me any guaranteed advice on what type of bits to use, and correct feed speeds other than give me a genralised chart of what SHOULD work.

The main thing we struggle with is finding the balance between a feed & spindle speed that is fast enough not to burn the bit, but slow enough so the bit doesn't deflect an unacceptable amount. I'm considering going to a 1/2" bit for the outline cuts, anyone with any advice there?
