How to add Dados to stretcher?
Hello all I am new to ecabinet and am in the design proccess of my own cab design. I am having an issue trying to add the dado to the top rear stretcher, for the 1/4" back of the cab. Also the stretchers are dadoed into the sides of the cabinet, is there a way to have the side dadoes continue across the entire top of the side peices? I dont feel these will affect the build, but more a cosmetic issue.

Re: How to add Dados to stretcher?
Thanks Scott, but my problem is getting the dado into the bottom of the back stretcher, where a 1/4" back will fit into. I am able to get the dado in the cabinet sides and deck, just not the bottom of the stretcher. Thanks!

I think if you use a top and change your top type to "top stretcher" it will do what you are wanting; instead of trying to use stretchers applied in the stretcher editor.

Chris,
If you will attach your cabinet here, I will take a look at it in the morning. I will be able to give better info/advice after seeing exactly what you are doing. If you would rather email it, send it to { cabinets@thermwood.com } attn: Scott

Re: How to add Dados to stretcher?
It's like Daniel say's -- go into construction settings and choose top Stretcher instead of full top and add width --ie: 3" -- and then full dado for the back after picking the material for the back.Chris Holmes wrote:Thanks Scott, but my problem is getting the dado into the bottom of the back stretcher, where a 1/4" back will fit into. Re: How to add Dados to stretcher?
Thank you for your replys, Although I have tried all of those methods. Looks like the problem is, in the contruction settings for the 1/4" back all of the dado setings are functional except the one for the top, it is greyed out. The only time I was able to use that dado setting, it just exteded the top of the back panel, flush to the top of the cab, then cut off the back of the top/stretcher. I just set a 3/8" inset so my back will still load as the correct size.

Re: How to add Dados to stretcher?
Chris,
When you set your Top Construction Parameters to Stretcher make sure you set the Back to Top Flush.
See Picture.
Then it should work.
