Write cnc file options

Post by Forrest Chapman »

Just wondering if I'm overlooking something here. When I write the cnc file at the controller is there anyway to get it to only write to a file and not to the screen? This would allow writing files while the machine is running. Forrest

Forrest,

There is no setting that will allow you to write a file without loading it automatically.

Hi Forrest,
I've found CN Desktop to be a great option to write code (in the office) while the machine is running.
But I'm sure you already knew that :)
I don't think there's any way to use CN on the controller while she's running.

The thing is you can use CN while the machine is running but when you write cnc it goes to the end of the process and then throws an error. Why can't it be set to write only to a file? Is this not a feature worth exploring?

I can't go into control nesting while the machine is moving (cs45 gen2), only when block stopped or paused between sheets.
