Create a cabinet with only a back, take that part into the part editor and then use a profile modeling tool to create the rabbet. The machine would have to be set up accordingly.

Why don't you try and use a cabinet back -
In construction settings, change all the joinery to full dado with 0" fit and depth clearance.
Then adjust the back flush / side flush settings etc. until the back has the rabbets in it the way you have shown.
Hope this helps,

Hi Josh, I followed your instruction, and did it. Now, I want to make it a frame with constraint. First, after I extrude cut the rectangular out, I saw the picture like I attached. But, after I add constraint on the the frame width 2.75", the dado around the perimeter is gone. Why? I cannot figure it out. :wall: May

how to adjust the length of a blind dado

Post by May Cui »

Hi Josh,
I found the blind dado is way too long than the tenon, I understand it has to be longer because of the radius of the tool. I attached the pictures to show how much longer they are. How to shorten the length of the blind dado?
Thanks,
May

May,
You will not be able to shorten the dado operation. We have no control over this.
Sorry I'm sure that's not too helpful -
