Vacuum Pump for my C53

Post by Gavin Armstrong »

Hi, I am looking to fit a vacuum pump to my C53. It has the vacuum bed fitted but I do not have the pump.

Bed size is 5ft by 10ft

What type and size of pump is recommended for this machine.

Many thanks Gavin

Hi Gavin,

Our bed is 5' X 12' and we use a pair of Busch 10 hp pumps. We have a vacuum gauge installed on the line to the machine bed so we can watch the vacuum level & run the second pump if necessary. We do run both pumps if we are cutting a lot of small parts. You need a pump that will pull a good amount of vacuum but also a large cfm as there is a lot of bleed through. You should mask the unused portion of your table to minimize the bleed through.

I am still running the 18 HP Becker that Thermwood supplied with my CS45 5' x 10' seven years ago. Never had any problems in 7 years, not one

Will,

What is the model number of your pump. We bought our router used and it did not come with a pump so I don't know about the Becker line.

Thanks,
Gerry

We have been looking at purchasing another pump as well. What is a good CFM combination? Our current small pump only pulls 56 CFM...

I think the model 400 produces 400 cubic meters per hour. It is designed to pull a constant 22 inches of vacuum

We run two 250cfm pumps. I was wondering if anyone has the CN software switch from one pump to two pumps when the parts are released? Not sure if this is built into the Thermwood controls or a add on.
We find its the final cut into the spoil sheet when you have smaller parts that the second pump is required. This would save me power and wear and tear on the second pump.
I have investaged the inverter option but last time I costed it is about 10k and the payback period was too long.
