Is there a way to estimate cut time for a job?

Post by JohnLashuay »

Does anyone know if there is a way to estimate how long it will take to cut a job? I have a customer who have a large number of duplicate small pieces and I would like to be able to figure how long the whole job will take to cut so I can plan our production schedule.

Any ideas?

Thanks! ...John

John,
I'm sure it's not as quick as you'd like, but you could always program one sheet and run it in the air to get an exact time. If there were enough of them, that's what I'd do to be sure.

There is a program called cut-timer available on the cnc automation site that works for non-3d parts and sheets of parts created in control nesting. I tried the demo and it seemed to be reasonably accurate. It lets you adjust parameters to match your setup as well. Most cam programs have basic time estimation but it can be way off depending on your machines acceleration/deceleration rates and tool change times.

Aspire will do that. Based on the feeds and speeds then you can adjust to your particular machine.
