Hole Dilema

Post by Stephane Kovari »

I have a 2-9/16'' hole for a cable grommet drawn in e-cabinet that goes through my piece and because of this it cuts the hole in one pass which creates a piece of malemine which gets stuck between the cutter head and vacuum and then jams the machine while trying to change tools!!!! Is there a ways to tell the machine that when the pocket is this size, to empty it completely as if it were a pocket??? therefore no leftover piece to get stuck!

Stephane,

1) Make sure that your check ALL your non-drill tooling/operations in Control Nesting to insure that you never try to INTERPOLATE larger than 2x the tools effective diameter. eg. 3/8" Dia cutter should be set to interpolate to just under 3/4" (say 0.730'"). This will force a POCKET operation if the hole cannot be INTERPOLATED. Many people make the error of setting the INTERPOLATE value of their largest tool to something like 10" so that all sizes are covered, but this only messes the progression to a POCKET operation up.

2) Insure your POCKET AREA (Through Cuts) is large. This setting forces Control Nesting NOT to pocket the interior of a THROUGH cut region that exceeds this area - Only the perimeter pass will be done. You want to make sure that your value is large enough so that the smaller areas that cannot be held down will be "eaten up" with a pocketing operation.

Hope this help...
