How to determine exact material thickness used before

Post by Daren LaBranche »

I'm wondering if anyone knows how to determine the ACTUAL material thickness used in a TWD file from a past job? I use generic material thicknesses in the library and then usually change those to exact thicknesses at the shop, where I simply mic the material when I create the TWD file.

But I'm not at the shop so I can't measure the material and I don't think eCabs retains any record in the library or the job of material thickness changes made during the TWD file creation. So I'm looking for a way to see the exact material thickness I used in a previous job, of which I have the TWD file from for my ShopBot, but I don't know where/how to look in that file.

Never mind, I think I found it. For anyone that's interested, here's how I did it.

1) Load the TWD file (in my case, into the ShopBot Link).

2) Select the material using the selection filter (if there's more than one).

3) Nest the material.

4) Without the USB hasp installed on your computer, click 'Write to ShopBot'.

5) A window will open showing the code. Look for the line that starts with "&ZSHIFT" about 24 lines down from the top of the file and just above the line with the material name you exported from eCabs. In my case the 5/8" Birch ply was actually 0.607".

Cheers

Load your TWD file in the link, nest it, then go into add sheet - there you can see the material and the thickness of what you used

This post should have probably been named "Determine exact material thickness used before from TWD file" but I can't change it.
