Large Job Running Painfully Slow_Need Advice

Post by Vince Lisanti »

Hello all,

I have a rather large kitchen job that is running painfully slow. I would like some opinions from others on how it runs on your systems before I consider purchasing a new system. My average size jobs do not run like this. Mys system specs. are shown below. Ram is now 16GB not 4

Load times between editors will be helpful and what systems you are using to run it. Link to the public dropbox file is below.

Thanks

Pretty much all areas of the job.
I am not as concerned about how long renderings take though as I am in the working areas, such as time to go from editor to editor and so forth.

I have noticed this same behavior in larger jobs. Going from room layout to CE takes a long time. Then moving between the different editors takes a long time. I have noticed a lot of regeneration of all parts of a cabinet even if I made no changes in an editor. The slowest is cabinets that have a multiple drawer boxes. Long time to regenerate these cabinets. Going from CE to room layout takes a real long time. I've gotten the point that I have Solitaire running so I can switch and play some cards while waiting. Same thing when Saving a large job. Click the save icon and go play Solitaire.

Not sure what can be done to optimize regeneration when things aren't changed, but I know things would really speed up with some more intelligence put into those algorithms. I know it's tough and time consuming. Just my two cents. I was a computer programmer for 18 years (EDS, Microsoft and my own software company).
Sincerely,
