Best way to handle the staircase opening from the attic to 2nd floor

Turning an attic into bedroom with large number of built-ins, custom bed etc. How would you handle the floor opening/stairs. I can only think to create a railing/knee wall around the location of the openings. Use a display cube to simulate an opening in the floor??

Hi Carmen. The method that you described seems like the quickest and easiest way to get the cabinets in the room and still give the customer a good idea of what the layout will look like. However, if presentation is what you are after. You can draw the walls the same height as the ceiling height, then use a display cube that is the same thickness as the floor, position the cube so that the top is at the same height as the second floor in your room . You can then cut a pocket in the cube for the stair opening. You can also use a display cube to create the stairs. This method is a lot more involved but should give you a very impressive presentation to show your customer. The screen shot is an example of using a cube for the floor. I hope this helps.

Thank you . I am glad I could help. Don't forget to post some pix when you get it drawn. I would like to see how it turned out.

Carmen,

Here is a link to another thread that has a downloadable .stl for a staircase. You'll have to load each piece into the Display Part Editor and modify textures for each piece.

Here's a couple pictures of the staircase that I used.
