CS45-254 Not remembering.

Post by Terry Davis »

After one of the latest updates CN 6.0.2.7 our machine quit remembering its daylight values, we have to re measure all bits before starting a new job. We are also getting a invalid character in EIA book at the start of the program. After remeasuring the bits we find that they are all off by about the same value (today it was about a 1/16).

Terry,

When does it not remember the daylight values? After restart of the machine? After starting Control Nesting?

What does the line of code read that gives you the invalid character error?

What kind of shape is your tool sensor puck in? Sometimes the puck can have small divots in it and measure tools incorrectly. Especially if its the same tools over and over and over again.

I have not noticed specifically when the daylight values go bad but i will be watching now. The EIA book error is occurring on the very first line of code it says" (Thermwood Control Nesting Version 6.02 (vs6.0)) .

Terry,

I have a suspicion the toolman file is becoming or is corrupted making your daylight values disappear.

Does it generate that same line of code each time at the top of the program? You can delete one of the ending parentheses and it will run correctly. Example: (Thermwood Control Nesting Version 6.02 (vs6.0). The machine does not like the double parentheses.

How do you fix the tool man file?

If you can get into tool management yet, write down all your tool information for each tool you have set up. Next, shut down the THM software. Then, in the C:\system directory, rename the file toolman.thm to toolman_org.thm so it doesn't become overwritten. Find a file named either toolman.cpy or toolman.sav. Copy it and paste it back in so you have another copy. Rename the new file toolman.thm. Restart the THM software and type back in all your tooling information.

This may or may not correct your issue. This may be a waste of time and not correct anything.

Problem Solved: Turns out that the bolt that retains the nut at the top of the Z axis shaft had snapped off and the nut was slowly unthreading itself until finally yesterday the router dropped onto the spoilboard revealing the problem, was not a hard fix we are back up and running, thanks to the Thermwood service dept. for all their help!

Terry,

Glad to hear the issue was corrected. Also, we released a new version of Control Nesting that should resolve the issue with double parentheses at the beginning of the file.
