V-carve on 1997 C53 router
Is there any reason why I wouldn't be able to run my 1997 Thermwood from toolpaths generated from v-carve? I am used to using mach3 which uses g-code just like the thermwood

All post are different even within the same manufacture so it is doubtful that Mac3 post will work with your machine. V-Carve does how ever have several post that can be used with thermwood machines but you might have to modify them to work for yours.
Yes! Oh Yes! I Think We Are Going to make It!

Gavin,
If you have a 97 then your machine is OS2 based and probably has no tool management. This means that you will most likely not use normal tool numbers to change tools but will use macro calls. If you would like to, you can email me a copy of one of the files that is already on the machine and I will put information in it so you know what code is doing what. Email me at program@thermwood.com Reference this forum post in the email. Thanks.

Re: V-carve on 1997 C53 router
Looking at the machine it has a 91000 Super Controller, I don't think it has an auto or manual quick change it looks like a full manual operation to change tools. When running a v-carve or Aspire generated g-code how would the super controller compare to the current thermwood control systems do they run code just as well as each other. Would the 91000 Super Controller be able to run 3d toolpaths as quick and as accurately as a modern Thermwood?
Many thanks
Many thanks

My 91000 supercontrol is still miles ahead of some other brand new CNC controllers. It will run any Gcode you throw at it as long as it's properly formatted for the machine. I run VCarve code frequently with great results.

Thanks Jnr that sound very promising, I am still waiting on the machine to be delivered. I have only ever used mach3 so if the supercontroler was unable to run vectric generated gcode I was going to convert them machine to mach3.
Do you have any photos online of work created with the supercontroller?
Cheers

My controller is 2005 - so it's a bit newer than the one you're asking about. I don't know what changed between 97 and 06 but Thermwood could probably help you with that.
I don't really have any photos actually...gotta get some on the next round I guess...
