Many times George D. has created 3d items for myself and others but I would like to learn a little so...
I have searched the web for a DXF or STL file of a under cabinet wine glass rack no find
how would I start to create this ??
Thanks
Tim

Re: want to create 3d item
Hi Tim
There have been some threads about different drawing packages for stls and I know Kerry Fullington gave advice on a free program a while back, but I cant seem to find them.
Some of the guys were using Via cad products http://www.punchcad.com/.
And I have been messing around with that one.
I find the drawing ability great for setting out kitchens checking sizes and doing workshop drawings.
On my wish list for ecabs would be much greater capability to be added to the line drawing editor, (that would make it closer to an almost perfect kitchen manufacturing design program) .
Here is a wikipedia comparison chart I found and it seems there are some freebies with STL import export capabilities
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compariso ... gn_editors
Meanwhile you are probably trying to get a quote out so I have attached one wine rack I have used and drew up your design as well.

Re: want to create 3d item
Thank you Mark,
Yes Kerry spoke about Accu Trans 3D and I am trying to learn on it but I don't really understand 3D
I have not been able to find a DXF or STL file to import for the wood rack, did you draw yours from scratch?
I downloaded the HSF files and will play with them
Thank you again
Tim

Re: want to create 3d item
Hi Tim
Don't feel alone about understanding and learning this stuff.
It takes me forever, I just keep on trying and slowly various functions start to seep into my brain.
I like to set myself a piece or object to draw and just sift through various functions and tools until I get there.
I have well and truly exceeded my own expectations as to speed and technique. (still slow, but still working on it)
Sometimes I wish for a return to the "good ol days" A bit of a sketch, A few dimensions, Bang it out. Done!
As for the objects, Yes, I drew them from scratch.
The metal one took me so long to draw up , we lost the job (it was one of those ones that you don't really want to do anyway)
After drawing up your design, I got to thinking and I had a go at making the wine rack in the part editor which worked out fine.
I just couldn't export it as a stl, which I think you should be able to do.
So I will post it as a question in the main forum to see if it is just me or a glitch with the new build.
Anyway lets hope 2016 is a good one
