Am pricing work that needs cab carcases to be prefinished plainsliced oak VCP ply, and finished ends will require flush sides. Economy dictates same 3/4 ply for backs as is used for all other case parts.
Thinking of housing backs in sides and deck with 1/4 x 3/4 rebate (full dado, 1/4 deep, back inset zero), and going with blind dado for all other joints, except for top to back, which will be flush. See pics here.
Is there a better design, cutting and assembly-wise?

Hey Gene,
Everyone has their preferences but I guess ideas is what you're fishing for. So, I would set the rebate to 3/8 deep instead of 1/4 and add tenon to the back of top/rear stretchers. Also, if I had the option would use 1/2" back material. My 2 cents.
