Changes/Additions for v5.40 (4/9/08)

  • Part names being added to comments in CNC was introduced in 5.39. This version removes any parentheses that may exist in these names which would cause a THM error. (FIXED)

Changes/Additions for v5.39 (4/8/08)

  • Losing Drill operations at the same location. (FIXED)
  • Support for machines having the toolplate setup to use the W axis. (ADDED)

Changes/Additions for v5.38 (1/31/08)

  • Outline pass on Dovetail parts with male tenons was cutting with wrong cutter compensation. This occurred when the part thickness is greater than or equal to the value set in Blind Dovetail Settings. This problem was introduced with version 5.37 (FIXED)

Changes/Additions for v5.37 (1/29/08)

  • Implemented parameter for performing Double Pass on outline pass of ‘skinny’ parts. A value for maximum width/length can be entered to determine if a part is ‘skinny’. Double Pass area value is still available as well. If a part is below or equals either value the part will be Double Passed. Double Pass settings are now accessed from a button in the Settings dialog. (ADDED)
  • Pocketing not performing correctly for grouped door or drawer fronts. (FIXED)

(FIXED WITH EXCEPTION) EXCEPTION: eCabinet Systems insures the inside of the cabinet is the side of the part which is facing up in the nest. (Shelves top side, Partitions right side, Toe front side) For double sided material eCabinets will make the side of part with the most operations be the side facing up in the nest. For these circumstances where eCabinets switches this orientation to not be the inside of the cabinet there is a possibility that the rotation will be inaccurate. This is being address in eCabinets and will be fixed in version 5.1 Build 3. Release of this build will be available in the near future.
  • Setting the start point for chain and outline operations in DXF can now be accomplished by putting the desired starting entity in a separate layer with same name plus the addtion of the word “start”. Refer to manual in DXF – Layer Names section. (ADDED)

  • Face frame parts not nesting. (FIXED)
  • Profile in nest not matching up with outline. (FIXED)
  • Pocketing calculations to handle overhang on parts eliminated for DXF parts. Now if machining is to be done over an edge of part the pocket boundary will need to be drawn to allow for radius of tool if desired. This was altered for MillLister support. (ALTERED)

Changes/Additions for v5.21 (3/8/07)

  • Found a case where dovetail drawer boxes would not run cutter compensation correctly due to duplicate points in perimeter.  (FIXED)

  • Pocket cuts failing on through cut pockets when the pocket area is smaller than value specified in Pocket Area.  (FIXED)
  • Arc/Line that are same in X and Y but different in Depth getting removed are now excepted.  This will allow for multiple depth operations at the same X & Y location.  <note: operation order should be utilized to get the shallower cuts to be performed before the deeper cuts>  (ADDED)
  • Having a Chain layer in DXF without a compin or compout designation caused THM to crash when loading the DXF.  (FIXED)
  • In the Add Sheet(s) area a method was found that could accept a sheet that did not get nested.  This was found by adding 1 sheet then entering new data for a 2nd sheet without reselecting the material.  The 2nd sheet would not get nested.  (FIXED)

Changes/Additions for v5.16 (2/22/07)

  • Implemented a new strategy to determine cutting direction for chain, outline, dado, & pocket operations. (FIXED/ADDED)
  • Altered operation for cleanup on pockets to use cutter compensation. Was receiving reports of cleanup pass cutting wrong side of pocket perimeter. (FIXED/ALTERED)

  • Set tool tolerance. This value can be set in Tooling. This value will tell Control Nesting what tolerance to use when selecting the proper tool for an operation. The tolerance value is applied to the diameter of the tool. For example, if an operation calls for a tool with a diameter of 0.25" and the tool at the control that will work for this operation is actually 0.245 a tolerance of 0.006" will allow this tool to be selected for the operation. (ADDED)
  • Check to verify tool diameter entered in Settings for pocketing exists in tooling. It will check for an existence of a rout tool with this diameter in all material groups using the tooling tolerance. (ADDED)
  • Ramp in on pocket routs causing a cut into area not desired. This occurred on pocketing areas where the width was only slightly larger than the tool diameter. (FIXED)

Changes/Additions for v4.86 (12/23/05)

  • Version 4.85 was checking for a decimal in the entire file path and refusing to load the file if one existed other than the extension decimal. This was only supposed to check the file name itself. This was stopping files in file directories with decimals from loading. Now only the file name is checked. Decimals in file names are not allowed. (FIXED)

    ‘centerline1 z0p75 d0p5’
    ‘centerline2 z0p82 d0p25’
    ‘centerline3 z0p85 d0p125’
  • Mixing of different layer types is allowed. Control nesting will do it’s best to keep tool changes to a minimum.

  • Cut direction incorrect on some parts with the ‘Perform All Through Cuts Last’ option. It was causing cutter compensation to cut into the part resulting in a part too small. (FIXED)
  • Air Assist output called for loading and removing parts when selecting in Settings. (ADDED)

Changes/Additions for v4.74 (9/27/05)
  • 2nd pass cutting into part on double pass operations. (FIXED)

  • Pocketing making the wrong path when user specifies tool diameter in DXF (FIXED)
  • Pocketing looking for wrong tool when a drill operation is performed as a rout because drill tool is not available. (FIXED)

Changes/Additions for v4.69 (8/29/05)

  • Pocketing operations in DXF (ADDED)
    - pocketing boundaries are identified by a layer with the name ‘pocket’. Other conventions are the same.
-‘d#p#’ in the layer name represents the diameter of tool desired for use. If this is not specified Control Nesting will use the diameter specified in Settings.
-‘z#p#’ in the layer name represents the depth of cut. If the depth is not specified the location of the entity is used to determine depth.
-layer name example: ‘pocket z0p5 d0p374’
this -This will mean that all lines and arcs in this layer should identify boundary(s) of pocket(s) at 0.5” depth and use a 0.375” diameter tool.
  • Certain unique nest configurations were creating invalid CNC code for flip operation labels. (FIXED)

Changes/Additions for v4.68 (8/26/05)
  • Centerline data coming out as an outline in DXF files from TurboCAD (FIXED)
  • Improper ramp in on outlines of DXF parts from TurboCAD (FIXED)
  • Ramp in on rout operations not obeying the ramp in distance specified in settings (FIXED)
  • Group parts not obeying the quantity settings. Only 1 group will nest. (FIXED)

Changes/Additions for v4.67 (8/23/05)

  • Flip operation labels not correct. They were giving a zero value for some parts. (FIXED)

Changes/Additions for v4.66 (8/22/05)

  • XSHIFT and YSHIFT values are incorrect for Off-Fall (FIXED)

Changes/Additions for v4.65 (8/22/05)

  • Scrap Part Recovery doesn’t function in metric (FIXED)
  • Dual head tool input not available in tooling (ADDED)
  • Rout operations on flip side cutting across the part (FIXED)
  • Tabs getting cut off on some parts (FIXED)

    Changes/Additions for v4.64 (8/09/05)

  • Full outline cut not being performed for tabbed parts (FIXED)
  • Off-Fall numbering wrong when grouped parts are in the nest (FIXED)
  • Cutter compensation incorrect for some parts with complex outline paths which consist of many directional changes from clockwise to counterclockwise (FIXED)

Changes/Additions for v4.63 (8/03/05)

  • Outline cutting order options available. User can select one of 3 options. Click the Outline Order button in Settings to select. The options are:
-Progress to nearest part (the machine will try to go to the nearest part next)
-Progress along X (This options is typically used for roller hold down machines to avoid excessive rolling over parts which may cause part movement)
-Smallest to Largest area (The smaller parts will be cut first. Part size is determined by area which is calculated by width times length.)
  • Parts not cutting out on correct material with multiple jobs in one nest which contain grouped parts. (FIXED)

Changes/Additions for v4.62 (7/28/05)

  • Job loads but load dialog will not exit when OK is clicked. (FIXED)
  • Tabbing feature improved (did not work in some scenarios) and ‘Use Tabs’ option in settings available. NOTE: When the ‘Use Tabs’ option is checked the double pass feature is turned off and a single tab will be present for each part that falls below the Part Width or Length for Tabbing. (ADDED)

Changes/Additions for v4.61 (7/22/05)

  • Part width & length incorrect in Unnested parts warning dialog for DXF parts in metric (FIXED)
  • Off-Fall rotation selection buttons not showing up when table width is larger than 48” (FIXED)
  • Sheet selection option for skipping to a sheet upon starting the program. This can be turned on/off in settings dialog. If the option is on, the operator will have to enter a number at start of program then hit <Enter> before the control prompts to load material. If the option is off, the CNC program is written without labels to skip to sheets. (ADDED)
  • Pocket operation converted to a drill operation option. Pocket operation of 1 arc & 1 line, where the line is on the edge of the part, will be converted to a drill operation if this option is selected in the settings dialog. This option is helpful for KD/RTA construction operations when the part was edited in the Part Editor of eCabinets. (ADDED)
