Recommended Laptop
It is time for a new laptop. Could someone recommend one that would run the program without any freezing or crashing issues? The computer I have has gotten me by, but I would like one that won't bog down when I use the program in detail. I'm not looking for a brand name, just specifics that will be ...

Re: Profit margin
Thank you so much for all the great advice. I have briefly read through some of the article that Mr. Kerry linked to me. Very educational!! Business classes are a great idea and I intend to register very soon for one. I hope that I can get my wife involved as well. Speaking with her earlier today ...

Re: Profit margin
Wow!!! I had no idea that there were geniuses like this in the cabinet business across the states and even around the world. My wife and I have had this business for 15 years and have "just gotten by" over the years. In the late 90's and early 2000's, we had extra which I invested (poorly). I knew ...

Re: Profit margin
Thanks, Neville, but I don't think I understand what you mean by a 3 year goal. Speaking to a financial advisor is something I am considering doing to get a professional's view of my business. But, I figured that I would get the best advice from my fellow cabinet makers here at ecabinets, and it ...

Re: Profit margin
Here is some more information that may make a difference in the way you perceive my business and may help you help me fix my problem. I have 2 employees. I don't have a CNC.(Want one badly! Scared to make the purchase under the economic circumstances). One of my men primarily builds and cuts. The ...

Profit margin
I need some help from some of you very smart businessmen. Building, finishing, and installing cabinets has always been an easy task for me compared to running the business. My wife is good with paying the bills and keeping things straight, but she, also, lacks the ability to run a business to turn a ...

Re: Adding molding
So I should create a directory called "crown moldings" and put cabinets in them in which I delete all parts of them except for the tops. On each cabinet, I should crown it in a different way in order to create a "crown molding cabinet" for each and every scenario. Am I understanding this correctly ...

Re: Adding molding
I agree that using the molding editor isn't hard, it is just another step. I was just hoping that the programmers might create a button in the custom layout that would act much like the countertop editor. If it would give you a down view of the room showing the tops of the uppers and allow you to ...

Adding molding
It seems like it would be nice if I could click an "add molding" button in the custom layout and whatever molding I have as my default would just "pop" into place throughout the entire custom layout rather than having to add molding and cut each angle on each piece in the cabinet editor. Is this ...

Re: backing up
Kerry,
I'm sorry that I am so ignorant, but I don't understand. What does the backup button under the file drop down menu do? I thought that this would put them on a disc or something. What if I get a virus on my computer and lose everything on my hard drive? Will I ever be able to restore my jobs ...
