Cutting round holes

Hey guys,

I'm cutting 3.5\" round holes and I set in rolling nest to spiral out. What its doing is cutting from the middle out to the edge then the circumferance. As a result it picks up the puck and fortunatly vacuums it up. Is it doing this correctly?

Bill, Thanks for your time. Your right about there being alot of flip ops. The cabinets are somewhat complicated and theres multiples of each one. Basicaly I'm working with a GC company and have designed moduler cabs for 3 bank jobs that are going to be used as a standard for many other banks, more ...

Paul,

Nevermind I look it up on the wed. From what I can tell its basicaly solid surface similar to corian or others. I'm not sure if its 100% acrylic. Even so we cut SS often and sometimes its a blend.

Tool should be 1/4\" upshear at 18000 rpm and 120 ipm.

Hey guys, I'm currently cutting a 39 sheet job with lots of operations. I asked Jason about getting rolling nest for my PC for the same reasons you suggested Nick. He said I'd have to talk to my local rep. presumably to purchace it. I do tie up alot of time at the machine trying to trouble shoot, ma...

Changing bits

Hi All,

I know you can change a bit in the middle of a nest and retool length. Does it have to be the same diameter. If its a different size will I have to rewrite the code.

More power please!

Hey tech guys, I spoke with Jason earlier and he directed me to you. I'd like to upgrade my 91000 controler to make it faster. Can I do this? I realize rolling nest is a complicated program, but I use another program that takes less than 1 minute to nest a job on a more powerful PC. The same job fro...

Brian,

I'm not sure what removing the gasket will do, but another thing is to edgeband your spoilboard. It seals off leakage from the edge.

Seems like the gasket thing would be counter productive.

Hey Bill, Are you useing 5x8 wasteboard? We have a 5x12 table and have just recently found a local dealer with 5x8x1/4. Its really nice for machining 5x material and even 4x, it gives us an ear to grip for pulling the sheet off the table. Also its less to move around when we are machining 5x12x3/4 m...

Hey Bill and Mike, Most of the melamine we cut is PBC. It may explain why we get as many board as we do. I have friends with a door manufacture co. and they cut alot of mdf with diamond it seems to do a better job in that application. The 3/8\" carbide cutter we use seems to be a good all aroun...

Hey Guys, I see a lot of different options being used. One thing that I'm sure everyone is looking for is the most cost effective way to do the job. Now in my case I can't see paying on average $175.00 for a disposable diamond bit that cuts 200 sheets of melamine when I pay $40.00 for a solid carbid...

Hey Nick, Just our experiance. 3/8- 2 flute comp. For 5/8 mel. 18,000 rpm at 700 ipm. For 3/4 mel. same rpm at 600 ipm. The same should apply for most sheet goods. One thing though is seperate the bits you cut mdf with. They tend to dull faster when switched from one material to the next. The genera...
