Impact Resistant Head Sensor continuosly tripping

Post by Aaron Rockwell »

I've been on this for 2 days :wall: . The system keeps telling the operators that the impact resistant head sensor is tripping while the head isn't near anything it can impact. The manual doesn't specify where the head sensor is, but I'm guessing its the roller switch that rides the top of the head next to the C-Axis stepper motor. I've cleaned the plate thoroughly and the roller as well yet it trips every time we try to home the head. Are there any diagrams available that give details about the head assembly? Or any ideas what could be causing this issue?

Scratch that. Determined that switch is normally closed. Bypassed it, to troubleshoot, and its still tripping. There must be another impact sensor I'm not seeing.

Moving the head manually makes me think it's on the z-axis somewhere. I can move X,Y,B,C without incident, when I try to move the z-axis to its home position the sensor trips.

PLC does indeed show it to be the Z-axis feed module.

Code: Select all

SIEMENS SINAMICS FEED MODULE FAULT OR IMPACT RESISTANT HEAD TRIPPED(Via Profibus or Profinet)
Z AXIS FEED MODULE FAULTED Fault1=7900 Flt2=0 Flt3=0 AbsPos=-0.0367 FE=0.0367
Managed to get it homed, then it faults while no motion is being applied.
