I am designing a house to sell and I am putting a 2 storey library in it.
You will come from the master bedroom on to the 2nd floor library.
I need some kind of nice railing to catch there eye?
Help
A start of the open stairs
I have to go spray a old house to day the in side
House is 95 years old. Nice big old house 5 bathrooms
I would of loved to seen it being build.
I do all my own spraying I never found a good painter
Going to be a long day
Personal opinion, but I would want a railing that does not obstruct the view to the upper portion of the library. I would go with the thinnest rail that building codes would allow while still having enough strength to keep someone from falling.
One really cool look (to me) is having a two story bookcase without the walkway. Then have a vertical ladder on a rail that moves from end to end of the bookcase.
Of course, with the litigious nature of society today, you probably couldn't build something like that without getting sued because someone fell off the ladder.
George,
I uploaded a newel and baluster from Enkeboll Designs to the customer 3D forum if you are interested.
That is going to be an interesting job. Keep us updated.
Not that you asked for any design ideas, but what if you put a slight outward bow on the platform with the railing. That would make the railing stronger, add a little browsing room for books and make the railing a little more interesting. Feel free to ignore these suggestions. I love jobs like this one and don't get to do them very often.
In your renderings you are not showing how the outside corner of the upper floor will be supported. Have you given thought to this yet? Also are you planning on open stringers for the stairs? I really liked the idea of the upper section of stairs curving to the 2nd floor. It has gotten the creative juices flowing.
Hi David
The stairs curving look good
I am big on steel
Hi Herry
(But what if you put a slight outward bow on the platform)
Now you know I have to try that now.
I spray 8 rooms and the sprayer when down about 3:30
I just had to come home (YES) I have 9 more rooms to do.
