Nesting in board stock? Use panel stock for workaround?

Post by Gene Davis »

Doesn't do it, right? I think I am getting it.

Only parts made from panel stock seem to be able to load into the routine that does the nesting.

It seems as if there might be some benefit to using nesting to optomize solid wood material usage, and get the advantage (if any) of using stick-on labels for faceframe parts, door stiles and rails, door center panels, etc.

Looks like the workaround is pretty straightforward, that is, make panel stocks of species, thickness, rough width, and length, as that which will be used.

Is this what you saw shop guys do, or do you just use the cut list output for use as the cutting guide?

Nested-based manufacturing, by definition, is sheet goods only. You can \"trick\" eCabinets to nest board stock like this.

As for material definitions, I just use the generic for everything. I know what material I will actually be using so I just need the dimensions and nest diagrams.
