Which hinge and plate

Question for the gurus.

We have a 1.25" thick door. The door will be inset. Not just inset by the thickness of the door but plus .75. I am wondering what hinge and plate I need for this type of application? We are trying to use Blum but so far cannot get it to work. We have a 3mm reveal which we can acheive but then the door won't open as it hits the end panel. Let me know what I should do.

Jason,

Blum does not have a hinge for that. Salice has a 'Thick door hinge" with a 40mm cup that will give up to a 1 3/8" overlay. I'm not sure what # it is but I know they have it. I'll check my book for #'s.

Hey Jason,
Thats going to be a tough one, nothing in the salice book either.They have hinges for thick doors such as applied moulding doors, but your added .750 is a killer. I dont have a clue at what your designing, but you might look at something mounted to a slide that pulls out before the hinge pivots, or maybe a type of pocket door setup. I am drawing a blank right now on any thing else. Maybe some one else has tackled this before.

The # for the "F" series hinge, inset,self-cl,Dowel is CFB7P99 in my book. You would have to check into what plate to use. It looks to me like a BARGP39/16(3mm) buy I'm not 100percent sure.

I will fax you the salice page with the closest thing I can find. I beleive it is what Brian is talking about. I done the math and I am afraid it might not work, obviosly the door will only open to 90 if it does.

Hopefully this picture will show you what we had made. It is part of a closet system that has a face frame with no scribes and a molding attached to the face frame. The doors will stop at the front of the end panel allowing the .75 face frame to stick out.

On the website it shows the part number as CFA7P99 which is only off by one letter.

Is the BARGP39 a screw in hinge plate becasue I need a screw in.

What crown moulding is that ? I cant seem to find it in mouldings .

The part numbers I gave you have the press-in plastic dowels. The hinge # you have is screw-on. That plate has pre-mounted euro screws. I'm still not sure that a 3mm plate is the right one but I think so. Also, in my newer book, Salice shows a new 200 series thick door hinge that does use a 35mm cup.(# C2RBP99) all of this type are doweled(just remove). It will work with doors up to 1 3/8" thick and should work for your application. Hope this helps

You might try Blums zero protrusion hinge, it may give sufficient throw in this case for the door to open properly
