Software change request: edit hinges/plates in paired doors

Post by Gene Davis »

Not a frequent occurrence, but when a two-door pair of doors is placed in a frameless cab opening defined by a single-thickness partition on on side, and a cab L or R end on the other side, the door on one side of the opening needs a different side reveal than the door opposite.

One might need, say, 6mm mounting plates on the partition side, and 0mm mounting plates on the other.

Today, one cannot "split" the hinge editing and thus the settings for each door in a pair of doors in the same opening.

It is a small and infrequent thing, but it causes a little bust in the buy list for a job with one or more of this type cab.

Software development team: please consider this change in a future build.

Gene ,

The workaround I am currently using in similar situations is to add a sacrifice partition with a front inset that makes the partition only about 1/16" thick to be disregarded later. This splits the opening allowing you to add the doors one at a time instead of as a "double door" using different settings and hardware choices for each door.

If you are sending this to a production shop, just indicate with the user part name function "SCRAP PIECE" so they know whats going on.
Or you can add a sheet material called DO NOT CUT and make spacers like these from that . This way your production shop will not nest any sheets with this name or just diregard them.

Thank you, sir.

Great workaround! Hadn't thought of that, but I have used partitions and shelves at 0.001 thickness made from stock called "Do Not Cut" in a few seed cabs already.

Now I know what to do in this instance.
