You cannot rotate a part in the PE. You can only flip it.

I have a feeling that this is not the question you asked though. Are you looking to get the rounded ends in the flute?

You can create a tool that cuts from the side instead of the top, or switch the width and thickness of the part.

I have erased all but one part of a face frame cabinet apart and I would like to flute this part so that it will be resizeable and somewhat easier to work with. But I only know how to flute with the end view using circles.

You need to use the contour area of the parts editor. The easiest way is to take your part into the contour area, right click and choose create edges. Then use the copy function and set it for whatever distance you want the center of the flutes. Make the lines. Then using the same method make more lines to stop the ends of the flutes and use the clip function to make them the correct length. Then back to the normal area of the PE and choose the tool function, (red line and dot icon) Click on one of the lines and a red indicator will show on the contour line. Then you need to choose a tool A rabbet bit will work but a corebox bit will work best. Choose the offset and depth and click OK. It should form the flute. Repeat until all flutes are done.

Hey Iain, here is a face frame done as Leo suggests. I then designed a tool to edge cut a flute which followed a tool path created in Contour. The tool path is merely a line drawn on the part. HTH

Here are three links to threads abour making fluted parts. The third one is most descriptive about the process while the first shows how to apply flutes to all four sides of a post.

To make them resizable along with the part you will need to apply constraints in the Constraint Manager.
