Migrating to new OS

Post by Jim Lovejoy »

I just installed a new copy of ECabs to a vista64x OS. I followed directions and it seemed to install OK. I would like to get my materials, tools and cabinets from my old installation. What files or folders do I need to copy from my old install so that I can work as before? the cabinet files and folders are simple enough but what about materials, hardware and custom hole boring patterns? Is there one folder I can copy or do I have to scrounge around and find all of the files that i have changed over the last few years?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Jim

What about doing a backup from your original, and then restoreing that to the new machine?

Just open up the file menu and you'll see it.
HP Pavilion DV6
2.27 gigahertz Intel Core i5 M 430
3064 Megabytes Usable Installed Memory
NVIDIA GeForce GT 230M
Windows 7 Home Premium

I tried it seemed like the way to go but in fact was not very successful. The restore created a bunch of odd directories for each of my job files and it doesn't associate the materials to the cabinets. I am not sure it saved any time over just copying directories and adding them manually one at a time.

Thanks anyway,

Jim
