Drawer box problems

Post by Jon Dieterlen »

After updating to v6, the drawer box bottoms are not the correct size. Cabinets that were created in v5 as well as a new seed created in v6.

I used the 5/8 bb drawerbox w/inset bottom. The bottom is 1" too short in depth, and is sized the same length as the fronts and backs.

The size shows correct in the drawer box editor when the cursor is hovered over the part, but when the box is added to a cabinet, the size is as described above.

Anyone else having this issue.

Thanks, Jon

After looking at this again, the bottom is the same size as the inside dimension of the drawer. The bottom is a full dado with 1/4" dado depth.

I'll bet if I give the bottom a negative 1/4" front, back, left, and right inset, it will be sized correctly.

But, I will have to take every cabinet in my library to the drawer editor, delete the drawers, and add them back with the modified drawer box.

Here is a cabinet. All of my cabinets have the same drawer box problem.

Jon,

The drawer box bottoms nested properly for me.
For your 14 1/8" X 21" drawer the boxes were 13 3/8 X 20 1/4 which is correct with a 1/4" groove in the sides and back.

Thanks Kerry,

It nests properly, with the correct size, but the cut list is incorrect in the batch cabinet area, cabinet editor, and the room lay out.

Somehow, the size is correct in the nest reports. As I cut the bottoms and backs on a vertical panel saw from the list, this is a problem for me.

This is a new problem that wasn't present with v5.

Jon,

Sorry, I didn't realize the problem was in the cut list. The cut list reports the wring dimensions for me also.

I hope there aren't a lot of cut list problems as I am getting ready to cut out a job using $100 a sheet quarter sawn oak.

Jon,

I have reproduced this and have it listed for the programmers. It appears to be isolated to the drawer box bottoms. They do not seem to apply the dado depth to the part size. As you stated, the nest & CNC output are displaying correctly.
